Rethinking

the earth cycle

Bricks can currently be produced in our plant with a recycled content of up to 40%.

Excess bricks, broken bricks or bricks that have been dismantled and sorted by type, for example, are suitable for the production of recycled bricks. In addition, secondary raw materials from other manufacturers can also be processed to produce recycled bricks. In addition to the color variants shown here, numerous other options are possible in consultation with architects - as with all GIMA brick types. Recycled bricks and pavers can be produced in various colors, with specific surfaces and special dimensions. Unique color effects can also be achieved using salt and coal firing or prefabricated clinker parts can be produced with the tried and tested dovetail toothing.

Color examples in 6 variants

We support planning offices from the first draft to the final shape and color, create sample panels and help with the construction of mock-ups. GIMA also advises on project planning and implementation, e.g. when it comes to the detailed planning of the façade or building physics and structural calculations.

Here you can see a selection of recycled brick variants produced to date. However, we can of course produce all products in exactly the color and format of your choice.

We manufacture recycled bricks and pavers exclusively on a project-specific basis and therefore coordinate the color with you personally until your idea is exactly right. Let yourself be inspired and discover a selection of previously produced colors in our color overview. Simply order a sample of your favorites or download our textures for renderings.

Our team of experts tests the properties of any new combination of raw materials prior to production. This allows us to determine the exact proportions in which certain secondary raw materials can be added to the production mass.

In the production process of HOFMANN NATURSTEIN, the addition of water during the processing of natural stone produces so-called sawdust. The GIMA laboratory team developed a special recipe for adding this sawdust to the classic raw material mix. Extensive tests were carried out to determine how this new secondary raw material affects brick production in terms of shape, color, durability and longevity. Markus Hage, head of the GIMA laboratory, emphasizes: ``Both our own and external secondary raw materials increase our resource efficiency and serve as the basis for recycled bricks. Our aim is always to produce products with original brick quality.``

Building sustainably

Creating durable and attractive buildings that will last for decades using selected and efficient materials: for us, this means building sustainably.

In addition to the well-known advantages such as almost unlimited service life and freedom from maintenance, robustness and resistance to aggressive substances or permanent color fastness, brick façades also score points with their creative potential, which allows architects great design variety. From a sustainability perspective in particular, a brick shell also makes a lot of sense in combination with timber construction as a load-bearing structure. While timber construction can convince with its advantages for the shell construction, the robust and weather-resistant brick shell protects the building for decades to come. In this way, a double-skin wall with GIMA bricks can fully exploit its advantages.
